We Offer Teeth Extractions

When all other options have been exhausted, a tooth extraction is sometimes necessary. At Fox Dental Associates, we understand this can be a worrisome process for patients and want you to feel at ease before, during and after your procedure. Visiting with a professional dentist, one of our staff will help you understand what to expect and your options for filling the gap after the tooth is removed. Having a tooth pulled involves feeling pressure in your jaw, but not pain, due to the effectiveness of our numbing techniques. Your physician must loosen the tooth from the socket and the ligament in order to pull it out of place, which causes some bleeding and possibly soreness the following day. Applying an ice pack to your jaw after the numbing medication has worn off will help ease any swelling or discomfort.

Reasons to Consider Removing a Tooth

Teeth extractions are necessary in some cases where the tooth has rotted beyond the point that traditional fillings or crowns can repair it. Rotting teeth pose a threat to the rest of your mouth and jawbone and are best removed. If you have chipped, cracked or damaged your teeth, we may also recommend pulling them and inserting an implant or bridge to fill the gap. Patients preparing for dentures often must have one or several teeth removed to make room for their new set of pearly whites.
